Timeless | Oregon Coast
The Oregon Coast holds a sense of timelessness that creeps upon the observer the longer they remain there. The vastness of the Pacific stretches endlessly westward, a boundless horizon that seems to hold no end.
Long before roads carved through the coastal range or towns dotted the headlands, this was a remote and mysterious frontier. Pirate ships, privateers, and explorers found their way to this coastal region, exploring its pristine mysteries. Legends linger of hidden coves that sheltered them, and of treasure buried beneath shifting sands.
This photograph was taken after I had finished photographing Heceta head, and while that lighthouse is as picturesque as any can be, it was this scene that drew my eye and brought my mind back to a time before roads, towns, and civilization.
