Olympic National Park, right outside of Seattle, Washington, is on of the most biodiverse ecosystems in America. It had two sections, one of which protects over 70 miles of coast, making it the longest protected wild coastlines in the contiguous United States.
Located near Forks, Washington this coast features a multitude of sea stacks littered a short distance from the beaches. Wildlife is rife with bears occasionally feeding directly from the rivers emerging from the rainforest, emptying directly into the sea.
This was taken from a very remote and stunning backpacking campsite at Mosquito Creek, with no one in sight for miles. Aptly named, the skeeters started up right at dawn, but walking the beach alone at sunset and getting this shot after coming back was something I’ll never forget.
